Executing Drug Traffickers

Is it just me…..

or have we yet again got the very small minority telling the vast majority that the world is a “bad place” for even possibly thinking about carrying out such a hideous act?

I am not aware of the facts around the case of Akmal Shaikh and being honest, the Chinese do not have the best record on human rights. However, my rant is not on the specifics of Mr Shaikh’s case but on the general position of whether or not the penalty for being convicted of trafficking drugs should be the death penalty?

For me the answer is simple.  Severe punishment works!

In Countries where tough punishment is still handed out, crime numbers are significantly lower than liberal Countries such as the UK. If any Government had the “balls” to toughen up on crime, they would gain massive respect from the masses, but unfortunately unless you are a fringe group you have no voice and the majority are disregarded, only the minorities have any say…

Or is it just me?
